The Out-Laws star Nina Dobrev has spoken out after fracturing her knee in a terrible dirt bike accident.

Dobrev, who has also starred in The Vampire Diaries and Sick Girl, says she attempted to ride a dirt bike for the first time at the end of May.

While riding, she lost control of the bike and landed on one leg straight, fracturing her knee as well as damaging her ACL and meniscus.

The actress took to Instagram to share about her recovery journey after being injured, showing before and after photos:

“I’m most excited about healing and getting back on my feet, literally and figuratively, so that I can get back to work,” Dobrev told MovieWeb before adding what she believes is the key to her recovery:

“Just to be patient. Because it’s been a long time and I still have a long road ahead, and I just want to get to the next phase so badly, but it’s not how healing works. It takes time, and so I need to be patient and kinder to myself.”

Earlier this month, Dobrev updated fans on Instagram about her recovery process. “In case you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to. Eat. Sleep. CPM machine. Physical therapy. Repeat,” she said. “If you’ve had this injury, you know what a CPM is… the rest of you won’t.”

A CPM machine is a “continuous passive motion” device that helps move a joint after an injury.

“Thank you to everyone who has been sending kind messages, thoughts, prayers, and good vibes,” she continued. “I have been feeling the support and positive energy. It means more than you will ever know.”

Dobrev will next star in a brand new mystery comedy Reunion, which she filmed before the accident.

The forthcoming film also stars Lil Rel Howery, Jillian Bell, Michael Hitchcock, Billy Magnussen, and Chace Crawford.
