David Duchovny threw it back to the ’90s on this morning’s episode of The View, where he shared the shocking conversation he once had with King Charles III.

The actor, who stopped by to promote his new film Reverse The Curse, was greeted with a blast from the past when The View displayed a photo of him and the then-prince seated side-by-side at a concert back in 1998.

In the image, The X-Files star and the royal are grinning next to each other in the middle of a crowd. And it turns out, Duchovny did more than make the king smile that day — he also gave him a valuable lesson.

“We were at the Prince’s Trust concert and there was a band called All Saints,” Duchovny explained. “They had a hit called ‘Booty Call,’ and Charles was kind of looking perplexed.

“He was like, ‘booty call?’ and I said, ‘I can explain it to you if you’d like,'” he recalled. “I said, ‘It’s when a man or a woman calls another man or a woman — usually late at night — for the purposes of just coming over and spending some time and then leaving.’

“He was like, ‘Oh, I’ve learned something today,'” Duchovny said.

Ana Navarro then quipped, “I get the feeling he knew it already, but OK!”

But he wasn’t the only one to take a trip down memory lane. Later in Duchovny’s visit to the Hot Topics table, Whoopi Goldberg got her own dose of nostalgia when The View played a video of people lip-synching to Bree Sharp’s “David Duchovny,” a 1999 release with the lyrics, “David Duchovny, why won’t you love me?”

While there are plenty of famous faces in the clip — including Alex Trebek, Kevin Nealon and Kiss — one stood out as especially familiar. As Sara Haines revealed, “our very own Whoopi makes an appearance with Rosie O’Donnell.”

Sure enough, both the current and former View co-host make a brief cameo in the video. While Duchovny thanked Goldberg for her appearance, she joked, “I’m still asking the question!” which made her guest deeply blush.

The View airs weekday at 11/10c on ABC.
