Whoopi Goldberg Pretends To Spit In Disgust On ‘The View’ After Accidentally Saying Donald Trump’s Name 

With the first presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump just two days away, The View kicked off this morning’s episode with a discussion about Trump’s accusations that Biden has been using performance-enhancing drugs to prepare for the event.

The White House turned down Trump’s request for a drug test ahead of the Thursday (June 27) debate, but Whoopi Goldberg asked her co-hosts if they think Biden even needs to “counter” such “attacks” from his opponent.

When it was Goldberg’s time to give her own take, she unsurprisingly defended Biden, but managed to shock the panel when she broke her own rule.

“I think it would be remiss of us to not say, Joe Biden knows how to do this. He knows how to do this, he’s quite good at this,” she said of the president’s debate skills. “And you can’t refute anything with him, because he just — when I say him, I mean, uh,” Goldberg continued, before she was prompted by Joy Behar, who chimed in, “Trump.”

Goldberg echoed her, saying, “Trump. He tends to just—” as she made a circular motion with her arm.

Then, catching herself, Goldberg muttered, “ugh,” with a look of disgust as she pretended to spit into the empty space below her.

Her bit earned Goldberg a round of laughter from the studio audience and the table, including an especially amused Sunny Hostin. After tipping her head back and cackling, Hostin turned to Goldberg and asked, “Did you say his name?”

Goldberg admitted, “I said his name. It was a trick and it made me do it.”

Goldberg has stubbornly refused to say Trump’s name aloud on The View for years, but she did break her streak during a May episode of the show to announce that the former president had been convicted of 34 felony counts.

“I’m going to say something you’ve never, ever heard me say before: Donald John Trump is a convicted felon,” she said at the time.
