Donald Trump chose Ohio Senator J.D. Vance to be his running mate this week, which means we’ve entered a new “fun phase” of the election where we’re “googling all kinds of crazy shit about him,” as Jimmy Kimmel Live guest host Anthony Anderson put it.

Anderson certainly had some “fun” facts to share about Vance during Tuesday’s (July 16) broadcast.

“Y’all want to hear some crazy shit about him?” he asked the audience, who cheered in response.

The comedian and actor shared a social media post Vance made in November 2020 in the thick of the pandemic that read, “As a parent of young children and a nationalist who worries about America’s low fertility I can say with confidence that daylight savings time reduces fertility by at least 10 percent.”

Anderson had a quizzical reaction to the post. “Okay, what the fuck could that possibly mean?” he asked.

He assumed Vance’s bizarre claim could only mean two things about the politician.

“Does it mean that changing the clocks lowers your sperm count or that J.D. only fucks in the dark?” Anderson asked the audience. “I don’t know.”

The bizarre post was memorable enough that even New York State Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to unearth it after Trump announced Vance as his running mate.

“Does anyone else remember that J.D. Vance daylight savings tweet,” she asked before later re-sharing a screenshot of the same post.

During an earlier broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Anderson took shots at Vance as he explained why Trump chose the Ohio senator to be his pick for vice president.

“Vance has everything that Trump is looking for in a running mate,” Anderson began explaining. “He’s white. He’s, well … That’s pretty much it.”

He later added that Vance may remind Trump of his family, considering, “He also looks like if Eric [Trump] and Don Jr. had a baby.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 ET/PT.
