When Is J.D. Vance’s RNC Speech? How To Watch Donald Trump’s Vice-Presidential Pick Speak Live

Ahead of the 2024 Republican National Convention kicking off on Monday, former President Donald Trump announced that he would be selecting his vice-presidential running mate, and he has officially chosen Republican Senator J.D. Vance, per The Wall Street Journal.

The outlet previously reported that Vance was one of four potential candidates that Trump was considering to make his vice-presidential running mate, with the others being Florida Senator Marco Rubio, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.

However, shortly before Trump made his selection public, The Washington Post reported that both Rubio and Burgum had allegedly been told that they will not be the vice-presidential pick.

Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform on Monday, per NBC News, writing, in part, “After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio.”

In his announcement, Trump praised Vance’s academic and professional credentials, including his work on his bestseller Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, which was adapted into a film in 2020.
