‘Today’s Jenna Bush Hager Brags About Her Matchmaking Skills, But Promises She’ll Wait Until Her Kids “Get Out Of Middle School” To Set Them Up
Jenna Bush Hager confessed during a recent broadcast of Today that she finally “got busted” by her kids after she threw out yet another participation trophy.
Bush Hager was admonishing Hoda Kotb for not getting rid of enough things before moving into her new home when she admitted that she recently did “a major clean” of her own.
“You know when I feel out of sorts, I just throw things away,” she told Kotb. “I got busted because there was a trophy, I didn’t know they wanted it. And there were a lot of trophies!”
She continued, “It was for a dance, a participation. It wasn’t like, ‘Best Dancer.’ They don’t do that anymore. It was like, ‘You danced! So you get a trophy!'”
Kotb laughed as she asked her co-host if she “tossed it,” which Bush Hager confirmed. “Yeah, I got in there and really went to work,” she replied.
She added, “Just to be clear, I was like, ‘Hmm,’ and they forgot about it. No words… then guess what? Four seconds later they didn’t even want that.”
Kotb pointed out to Bush Hager that she was teaching her kids “a lesson that material stuff is not important.”
This is a hilarious update from Bush Hager, who once guiltily confessed to throwing out most of the participation trophies her kids receive.
“I’m feeling tremendous guilt because my kids don’t have one trophy in the house,” she told Kotb on Today in 2023.
“You know, because everybody gets a trophy, they’ve won at least six,” she ranted. “Even though they’re completely average, they’ve won all these trophies, and I throw them all out.”
But she also promised to “be better about this,” though it looks like she’s still back to her old ways!
She later admitted that her mother also “threw everything out” when she was growing up. “But she kept scrapbooks, so we have all these scrapbooks. And that’s what I do,” she told Kotb, before quickly adding, “Well, she does them for me.”
