As the title suggests, a man and a penguin form a beautiful friendship in the family film My Penguin Friend, which is coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this heartwarming flick!
Starring Jean Reno, My Penguin Friend centers around João Perei de Souza, a Brazilian fisherman that ends up discovering an injured and oil-covered penguin that has drifted by him. João decides that he should help this penguin and nurse it back to health. As time goes on, through the rehabilitation process, the fisherman ends up bonding with this penguin. It may be an odd friendship, but it will change both of their lives for the better.

WHERE TO WATCH MY PENGUIN FRIEND:
As of now, the only way to watch My Penguin Friend is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, August 16. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon.
WHEN WILL MY PENGUIN FRIEND BE STREAMING? WILL MY PENGUIN FRIEND BE ON PRIME VIDEO?
My Penguin Friend will not be available to be streamed on Prime Video, as it is not being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, but the film will likely be available to rent or buy on Prime Video. While a release date has not yet been announced, most movies typically come to digital platforms around 45 days after they’re released in theaters. If My Penguin Friend follows that trajectory, we could be watching from the comfort of our living rooms by late September 2024.
WILL MY PENGUIN FRIEND BE ON HULU or DISNEY PLUS?
My Penguin Friend will likely go on Hulu, as the film is being distributed by Roadside Attractions, a production company that signed a deal with Hulu to send all of their films to the streaming service. There is no set date for a Hulu release, Call Jane, a previous film by Roadside Attractions made it on to the streaming service after 90 days, meaning My Penguin Friend will likely be available on Hulu in mid-November. Considering this is a family-focused film and Hulu’s partnership with Disney+, it seems quite possible for the film to be available on that streaming service as well.
WILL MY PENGUIN FRIEND BE ON NETFLIX?
No, My Penguin Friend will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. While it’s possible the film may come to the streamer at some point in the future, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on digital platforms in the meantime.
