‘9-1-1’ Season 7, Episode 8 “Step Nine”
This year alone, 9-1-1 has given fans a three-episode ode to The Poseidon Adventure, a Bachelor cameo, a delightful dig at Angela Bassett’s Oscar loss, a long-awaited Buck arc, an unexpected wedding crasher, and a ridiculous doppelgänger. But with two episodes remaining in Season 7, the hit ABC procedural shows no signs of slowing down. For fans of the great Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) and flashback episodes like “Bobby Begins Again,” Season 7, Episode 8, “Step Nine” is a must-watch. The episode kicks off with the 118 captain learning that burn unit nurse Amir (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) survived the 2014 fire he accidentally started in his Minnesota apartment building. Amir tragically lost his wife in the blaze, so Bobby sets out to make amends, confronting his childhood trauma and encountering another life-or-death situation (or four!) along the way. The eventful hour toggles between heartbreaking flashbacks to Bobby’s formative years and a high-stakes desert escape that will leave Better Call Saul fans craving a “Bagman” rewatch. When you’re done beholding the powerful, dynamic duo that is Warner and Krause, be sure to read Decider’s interview with Warner for more 9-1-1 tidbits.
