On a mission to scale the carbon removal industry by connecting projects and buyers with efficient financing.

Om os

We are in business to reverse climate change by removing as much CO2 from the atmosphere as possible, as permanently as possible. At Klimate, we help companies achieve Net Zero by combining the world's best carbon removal methods into portfolios that match our clients' budgets and ambitions. Through Klimate's portfolios, companies can remove CO2 from the atmosphere that corresponds to their unavoidable emissions. This helps scale these much-needed carbon removal methods that are crucial to reverse global warming.

🔍 Carbon removal 101: VCM, or the voluntary carbon market 🔍 The voluntary carbon market is where private companies can buy (and sell) carbon credits to compensate greenhouse gas emissions technically by their own choice. 🌏 ⏩ VCMs differ from compliance markets which set an absolute limit of carbon emissions that can be emitted by a certain market or industry or even a limit to compensate for those emissions. ⏩  What does this actually mean? While companies or private actors may not be required by law to purchase credits, that doesn’t mean there aren’t a number of mechanisms that push them to make this choice. It’s not just the right thing to do to help fight climate change, but also a smart thing. So why do companies engage in the VCM, and how do they participate effectively? Find out more in the slides below:

Our carbon removal supply partners at InPlanet have released an exciting new paper that answers: Why Brazil? The unique conditions make this location an especially interesting and impactful location for enhanced weathering due to two main factors that significantly accelerate carbon dioxide removal through rock weathering: rain and heat. 📈 These conditions in Brazil could speed up weathering in this locale up to 10x more compared to averages across the US or Europe! 📈 Not to mention, Brazil currently has large areas of agricultural land, high availability of materials, and strong potential co-benefits to local communities. 🚜 We’re so glad to provide their credits in high-quality portfolios and keep your eyes peeled for what comes next from the great team at InPlanet. 👀 Read the full article down below!

🌍 Read more about our game-changing carbon removal potential on: https://lnkd.in/ec2RQRVf Our impact is huge! 🇧🇷 With InPlanet’s current rock powder application rates and composition (basalt), we have calculated a sequestration potential of 0.230 Gt/CO2 per year across Brazil. This could cover 100% of Brazil’s Nationally Determined Contributions. 🗺 Our impact goes beyond at Brazil’s borders. The successful implementation of enhanced weathering there creates a global impact due to the huge potential of scalability and the faster weathering rates in these specific climate conditions. We are contributing to a global goal of reduction in CO2 levels. 🌎 By advancing Enhanced Weathering in Brazil, we are driving forward a significant shift in the fight against climate change, benefiting ecosystems and communities globally. #CarbonRemoval #ClimateChange #EnhancedWeathering #Brazil #Sustainability #Innovation

On the path to net zero, carbon accounting is a critical first step for companies aiming to reduce their environmental impact. By quantifying emissions across operations and supply chains, businesses can identify opportunities to cut carbon dioxide setting the stage for more sustainable practices. This also opens the door to understand how much and when to remove carbon dioxide and create a wholistic strategy. Dive deeper into how carbon accounting works and why it's essential for any sustainability strategy in our latest insight: https://lnkd.in/dxbqrZJ3 #carbonaccounting #lca #carbonremoval #co2removal #carbondioxideremoval

Meet the latest method in our video series: Blue Carbon. Ocean blue carbon is a catch-all term for the carbon stored in coastal or ocean ecosystems, in places like mangroves, seagrass meadows, or tidal marshes. Despite only covering <2% of total ocean area, they account for almost 50% of the carbon sequestered in ocean sediments. When sustainably implemented, blue carbon provides a number of ecosystem services, provide vital functions, and support livelihoods of local communities. We are excited to announce a 1000 tonne purchase agreement with a new carbon removal supplier, Andes. Andes is a microbial carbon mineralisation project, or MCM for short, working alongside farmers in the Midwestern United States. They apply microorganisms alongside crop seeds to accelerate the natural mineralization of atmospheric CO₂ in soil. These microbes grow with the crop roots resulting in stable minerals that durably and securely store carbon in the soil. Shared from Lauren Brown, Head of Carbon Removal at Klimate: "We are very excited to be working with Andes as a new partner and new CDR method for Klimate. Andes employ a robust Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) approach and we are glad to offer this high integrity method while scaling durable solutions." Said best by Gonzalo Fuenzalida-Meriz, CEO and Co-founder of Andes: "We are grateful to have the support of Klimate, a partner who believes strongly in Andes work and shares our vision of microbes' immense potential for carbon removal. They have conducted extensive due diligence on our solution and we are excited to work with them well into the future as a piece of the puzzle to grow carbon removal to gigatonne scale.” We look forward to collaborating with this novel technology as we share in the mission to accelerate efficient, scalable, carbon removal solutions! 🌍 🔗 Read more about Andes on Klimate's website here: https://lnkd.in/db7XCS5Z #carbonremoval #carbonremovalmethods #cdr #carbonmineralisation

As companies aim for net-zero emissions, monitoring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is crucial. But where do you start? The journey begins with GHG accounting, a process of measuring and monitoring emissions to identify reduction opportunities. A big part of this is carbon accounting (or carbon footprint analysis), which is the first step towards implementing emission reductions in a company’s value chain. Once this step is underway, residual emissions can be compensated for by purchasing verified carbon removal credits. 🖇 Discover more in our latest insight: https://lnkd.in/djq-f--c #carbonemissions #netzero #greenhousegasemissions #ghgaccounting #ghgprotocol
