Vanessa Nardini, PhD student in Botany at University of Galway, Ireland, is visiting Pure Algae Denmark as part of her enrollment in the European research project, MSCA DN SEACHEM.
Pure Algae is one of the associated partners in SeaChem, providing high-level training in seaweed cultivation to 10 doctoral candidates.
Vanessa’s current experiments are focused on enhancement of biomass enriched in high-end compounds for use in the food, health, and personal care industries.
This phase of her research is taking place in one of Pure Algae’s laboratory setups in Grenaa, Denmark, where she has conducted tests with changing growth parameters in the cultivation of the green macroalga Ulva sp., specifically with the purpose of assessing the biochemical composition of the biomass produced under certain conditions.
It has been a pleasure having a skilled profile such as Vanessa at our laboratory facilities, and we wish her all the best in her future studies.
