Miljøstyrelsen, The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has just published the #report which will lay the foundation for the upcoming nitrous oxide regulation in 2025. The goal is to achieve a 50% reduction in N₂O emissions from wastewater treatment in Denmark. Krüger A/S and NIRAS have done a great job at presenting different options and providing an overview of recognized measurement technologies.   The report is available in Danish below. There will be plenty of other kN₂Owledge-sharing presentations, product exhibitions and networking opportunities with colleagues in wastewater management.

One month to go until #WEFTEC in New Orleans. We are very much looking forward to sharing kN₂Owledge, meeting current and future clients, and learning from colleagues in the water industry. The stand will be brand new, but the team remains the same, as Thomas and Mikkel will be ready to discuss #wastewater and nitrous oxide #emissions with you at stand no. 6339, part of the Danish Pavilion. On 17 September, Mikkel will join a strong lineup of presenters at this Danish in-person #workshop to present the results and insights from the project: TwiN₂Ops - Digital TWIn for monitoring, prediction, and reduction of N₂O emissions from Operating wastewater treatment plantS.   The aim of the project has been to establish an operational digital twin for monitoring, prediction and reduction of N₂O #emissions from #wastewater treatment plants. Bjergmarken in Roskilde and Marselisborg in Aarhus have been test facilities for the implementation and demonstration of the #digitaltwin. We have Mikkel and Bastian back in the office after an amazing week at the IWA #WorldWaterCongress in Toronto. We were thoroughly impressed by the number of sessions focusing on #GHGemissions, and nitrous oxide specifically. We might even have missed one or two. Mikkel was also one of the presenters at the workshop "We KN₂Ow Enough - Mitigating Nitrous Oxide #Emissions at WRRFs Today”. You can see the whole team together in the image below. Thank you to everyone who visited our shared stand with Unisense Environment A/S at the IWA #WorldWaterCongress in Toronto this past week. We were thrilled to meet and discuss microbial ecology and microsensors with a lot of researchers. And fortunately, we will do it all again next week, in South Africa. Tage will be in Cape Town for #ISME19, the 19th International Symposium on Microbial Ecology. Stop by for a talk in the exhibitor area.

Today is the final day of the IWA #WorldWaterCongress. If you have already talked to Bastian and Mikkel at stand 300, the Danish Pavilion, we recommend exploring the poster presentations. There are also some very interesting #netzero sessions taking place today, such as "Nitrous oxide #emissions in full-scale operations" and "Nitrous oxide modelling and control". Day 3 of the International Water Association's World Water Congress is coming up. Or from our point of view: #Workshop Wednesday! Today at 1.30 pm in room 716B, it is time for the workshop "We KN₂Ow Enough - Mitigating Nitrous Oxide #Emissions at WRRFs Today". After an introduction from Emily Zegers and Jose C. Porro, Z. Jason Ren and Amanda Lake will present the first theme: A Birdseye View of Global Data and Progress. Nerea Uri Carreño and Giulia Pizzagalli will share the utilities' perspective and progression, before they pass the baton on to Mostafa Khalil, Ph.D and Liu Ye under the headline Modelling Meets Mitigation. Mikkel will join Otto Icke for the final theme of how country level action is leading the way. And Diego Rosso will round it all of after a roundtable discussion. What a line-up and what a program. We hope to see you there. And if you can't make it, you can still stop by the stand where Bastian is ready to welcome you.
