Keep your indoor spaces cooler and more energy-efficient this summer with these three simple cooling strategies: 1. Use solar shading ☀️ Block heat and sunlight with blinds or shutters, reducing indoor temperatures by up to 5°C. This decreases the need for air conditioning, saving energy use and money for cooling while enhancing indoor thermal comfort by maintaining consistent temperatures and reducing glare. 2. Open windows for ventilative cooling 🌬️ Boost natural ventilative cooling by opening windows, which can give up to 12 times more airflow than mechanical ventilation. Techniques like cross-ventilation and the stack effect can make indoor spaces feel cooler and cut down on energy use. 3. Practice night cooling 🌛 Cool down your indoor space by opening windows at night, a method called "night cooling”. It takes advantage of cooler night air to lower indoor temperatures by morning, making the daytime temperature more bearable. Studies show night cooling can reduce indoor temperatures significantly. These strategies will help you stay cool and comfortable while promoting energy savings for cooling.
