    Goals and objectives
    To develop a platform to support the processes around the optimization efficient ship operation with special focus on energy efficiency and environmental performance.
    Total fuel savings for J. Lauritzen's fleet of dry bulk and gas carriers amounted to almost 5% in 2016 compared to the year before. “The total fuel saving corresponded to approximately 22,500 tons and thus enabled us to significantly reduce emissions of our fleet. In addition, the new system has made it easier to monitor whether external tonnage suppliers live up to their contractual obligations when it comes to the speed and consumption of ships.
    The combined cost savings for J. Lauritzen and Torm amount to approximately USD 10 Million in 2016 alone.

  • Green Ship of the Future: "Low Emission RO/PAX" Environmental ship design innovation project 2013.

    The study is driven by recognised industrial partners within the Danish Green Ship of the Future partnership.
    The possibilities and potential of reducing emissions and fuel consumption from an existing RO/PAX ferry have been assessed.
    Focus has been the technical design and hardware solutions within machinery, propulsion, alternative fuels and other areas affecting energy consumption and emissions. The study was based on existing RO/PAX M/S Visby with an already known operation profile…

    The study is driven by recognised industrial partners within the Danish Green Ship of the Future partnership.
    The possibilities and potential of reducing emissions and fuel consumption from an existing RO/PAX ferry have been assessed.
    Focus has been the technical design and hardware solutions within machinery, propulsion, alternative fuels and other areas affecting energy consumption and emissions. The study was based on existing RO/PAX M/S Visby with an already known operation profile to and from Gotland in Sweden. This made it possible to benchmark the innovation design emission and fuel reduction results against existing data.
    As part DNV’s contribution I have personally been project managing the alternative fuel and machinery selection group. A number of promising and inspiring innovations have been assessed and significant fuel and emissions reductions have been achieved.
