The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft was a whirlwind. Analysts Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported that six quarterbacks were expected to be taken in the draft. Whether you think that is way too many or not, six quarterbacks were indeed selected in the first round, and all of them came in the first 12 picks.
Caleb Williams landed with the Chicago Bears as expected. Reigning Heisman winner Jayden Daniels went second to the Washington Commanders with UNC’s Drake Maye going to the New England Patriots. The next QB off the board was a shock to many as the Atlanta Falcons selected Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick. The Minnesota Vikings selected J.J. McCarthy after a trade up to No. 10, and the Denver Broncos drafted Bo Nix at No. 12.
