The St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals wrap up their series in the District of Columbia with the Cardinals clinging to the final National League Wild Card spot and looking to veteran Miles Mikolas for a good start on the mound.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals (-112, 9)

Mikolas has a 5.14 ERA due in large part to not keeping batters off guard, owning averages of 6.4 strikeouts to get 1.6 walks per nine innings with 16 runs, 15 of which were earned runs, allowed across his past three starts.

While the Nationals are at a disadvantage in the bullpen with the team 18th with a 4.07 ERA entering Sunday while the Cardinals entered sixth in bullpen ERA with a 3.47 ERA, starting pitcher Mitchell Parker should help offset it.

Parker has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his 15 career starts, posting a 3.61 ERA with 7.2 strikeouts and 1.9 walks per nine innings with his ERA lowering to 3.11 at home.

Entering Sunday, St. Louis was just 24th in the league in runs per game and 25th in home runs per game while the Nationals make up for having the second-fewest home runs of any MLB team by ranking third in the league in stolen bases, and are 15th in the league in runs per game at home.

With Mikolas entering in a funk and the Nationals ability to move guys over with their nimble nature on the base-paths, the Nations will close the series with a win.
