The Stanley Cup Final rolls on tonight, with the Panthers having the opportunity to hoist the Cup while the Oilers aim to force a winner-take-all Game 7.

Sean McDonough joined Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. to break down tonight’s Game 6 in Edmonton.

The Panthers, like the Celtics in the NBA Finals, jumped out to a 3-0 series lead before dropping Game 4. It seemed like the two finals series were on a parallel track, however, the scriptwriters didn’t get the memo as the Oilers won again in Game 5, with Connor McDavid proving he is anything but “McOverrated” (sorry, Greg Cote and The Dan Le Batard Show!).

So, GoJo wants to know: What was the turning point in this series? What helped Edmonton get back into the series? Sean says part of it has to do with the fact that most of the Florida players had never played before in a game where they could clinch the Cup. Now the Panthers find themselves in the position where Edmonton has all the momentum and return home a wild crowd ready to come out and cheer their team on to history.

Speaking of history, GoJo wants to talk a bit about the Conn Smythe Trophy. He points out that only five times has the award gone to a player on the losing side in the Stanley Cup Final. But he wants to know if we’re at a point with McDavid where he should be the odds on favorite for the award no matter the outcome of the series. Sean points out that the Conn Smythe isn’t just about the Stanley Cup Final, its for the playoffs in their entirety. And McDavid is doing things that nobody has ever done, and breaking seemingly unbreakable records. Sean does think if Sergei Bobrovsky comes out and plays really well, shuts out the Oilers and Florida wins the Cup then it becomes a toss up. But, Sean thinks if McDavid gets it very few people would argue, even if the Oilers lose the series.
