Steve Buchanan gives his best bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Friday’s MLB slate.

MLB: Cleveland Guardians at Kansas City Royals Peter Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Every team will be in action tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. ET. I’ll give you some of my favorite plays you can tail on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Boston Red Sox vs. San Diego Padres

The Pick: Red Sox Team Total over 4.5 runs -130

Hard to not like the Red Sox tonight in their first matchup against the Padres. They’ll be starting Randy Vasquez, who has been getting rocked on the mound. His biggest issue is left-handed bats, so facing the Red Sox is less than ideal for him. Lefties have tagged him with a ridiculous .532 wOBA and a 8.02 FIP. The Red Sox will be extremely left-handed heavy, and likely will feature six in the lineup, including their top four hitters. Vasquez also has really poor numbers on the road, posting a 6.85 ERA with a .447 wOBA and six of the 10 home runs he’s allowed. An offensive outburst from the Red Sox feels like it’s going to happen tonight at Fenway Park.

Cleveland Guardians at Kansas City Royals

The Pick: Game Total over 9.5 runs -115

This will need a weather check closer to first pitch, but, if it looks good, I like the over. We’re not expecting a pitching duel between Triston McKenzie and Alec Marsh, so runs should be aplenty. McKenzie has seen the Royals once already and allowed five runs through 5 1/3 innings. Marsh has yet to pitch against the Guardians but comes into this start having allowed at least four runs in three of his five starts, including seven against the Athletics. There isn’t much to look into either of these pitchers and think they’ll be efficient against either team. McKenzie, especially, is having a very rough month of June. He’s only thrown 16 innings and has produced a 7.88 ERA with a .432 WOBA and six of the 17 home runs he’s allowed on the season.

Turning things over to the Royals bullpen once Marsh departs isn’t going to help matters either. While I think he’s the better pitcher of the two, the Royals bullpen has been a giant sore spot as of late. Over the past week, they’ve thrown 19.2 innings and have a 5.49 ERA.

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers

The Pick: Jameson Taillon under 4.5 strikeouts -105

I like going under on Taillon strikeout prop tonight against the Brewers. This isn’t an offense that strikeouts much to begin with, with tonight’s expected lineup has a combined 21.6% K% against right-handed pitching. This is the second time Taillon will face this offense and he just went under this total, having struck out four through six innings. Taillon has seen a dip in his strikeout numbers and currently has the lowest K/9 of his career at 6.9. As you’d expect, his swing and miss rate is also way down going from 9.6% last season to 8.4 this year.
