    In a tragic incident, several coaches of the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh around 2:35 pm on July 18, according to a statement by Indian Railways. The derailment has raised serious concerns and prompted swift response efforts.

    Investigation and Suspicions of Sabotage
    Indian Railways is actively investigating the causes behind the derailment, which occurred between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations. Initial reports indicate between five to six coaches were affected. Suspicions of sabotage have emerged after the train driver reported hearing an explosion just before the accident, leading authorities to consider foul play as a possible cause.

    Casualties and Injuries
    The derailment has resulted in tragic outcomes, with three confirmed casualties reported so far. Around 20 individuals have been injured, varying in severity.

    Describing the incident, a passenger onboard recounted, "I had to go to Hajipur. Fifteen minutes after leaving Gonda, the train tilted left and right side twice and then the third time, we all fell on the left side. There was a mild explosion (before the incident) and after that a strong jolt was felt, and our coach derailed. We were coming from Chandigarh." This firsthand account provides insight into the sudden and catastrophic nature of the derailment.

    Government Response and Compensation
    The Ministry of Railways has swiftly responded with compensation measures: Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for those grievously injured, and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries. In addition to the ongoing CRS inquiry, a high-level investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the derailment.

    Neha Sharma, DM Gonda, provided updates on the injured, stating, "They are being treated. The passengers will be taken to their destination by rescue special train."

    Government Support and Action
    Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh assured affected passengers, stating, "I have met all the officials. All the injured people have been sent to Mankapur CHC and Gonda. We are making arrangements to take the rest of the passengers to the main road and the administration is also making arrangements. A bus has been arranged for them so that they can reach Mankapur railway station. A special relief train will come from Gorakhpur and through this train, the passengers will be taken to their respective places." This coordinated effort aims to provide immediate relief and support to those impacted by the derailment.
