    Harmful colours can put your hair & skin under stress: Post-Holi tips to get the glow back

    The festival of colours is here. People tend to go all out when celebrating with colours on Holi, but it is the skin and hair that take the brunt of it later.

    The after effects can be quite damaging. Also, getting rid of the colours after can be a task. Worry not!

    Cleansing the right way
    After a fun day, don’t jump in for a bath directly. Dust off all the dry colours gently with a piece of cloth, then apply a light layer of oil and wait for 10 minutes. Take cotton or soft tissue and simply wipe off the oil. Then, thead to the shower.

    Apply a good moisturiser and sunscreen all over the body for a week.

    When removing the colours from your face, rinse it first with plain cold water and then apply a cleansing cream over it. This will help it ot get clean from deep within. It is very important that all the impurity and toxic substances release out of your skin-pores. It is advisable to use a cleanser containing less of chemical elements and more of natural ingredients like wheat germ oil or aloe.

    Avoid using hard brushes, harsh chemicals like kerosene or even lemon or tomatoes to remove colours. They leave your skin dry and itchy, making it prone to rashes.

    Cleaning your hair
    Wash your hair with a shampoo that has natural vitality to wash off the colours and noxious substances. After washing your hair, don’t forget to apply conditioner which will give it nourishment, shine and strength.

    Moisturising is essential
    Apply a good moisturiser all over the body and repeat it after a few hours. Continue this process for a week and don’t forget to use a sunscreen.

    Take care of your eyes
    After a full day of exposure in the sun, our eyes becomes really stressful due to the harmful and toxic elements flying in the air. Apply good and efficient eye cream (full of Vitamin E) before hitting the bed. This will make you feel fresh in the next morning, and also clear your dark circles and patches overnight.

    Be gentle towards you skin
    During and post-Holi, the skin undergoes a lot of strain. It is time to let the skin rest and be make-up free for some time. Rub ice cubes on your face regularly to soothe the skin. For one week, avoid shaving, waxing, de-tan facials, bleach or laser treatments.
