The ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ star admitted to being unnerved by the rumours and endless speculation about her husband’s alleged toxic behaviour, as she knew he was not like what the public perceived him to be.
Alia Bhatt finally broke her silence on the ongoing speculations about her marriage. She also addressed rumours of husband, ‘Sanju’ star Ranbir Kapoor being toxic.

A recent video of Bhatt talking about how her husband doesn’t like her wearing lipstick and asks her to “wipe it off” sparked outrage online. In a video interview for Vogue, the ‘Raazi’ star revealed how Kapoor liked her natural look. However, it did not go down well with netizens and soon Kapoor was branded as a “red flag.”

Bhatt, who recently appeared with sister-in-law, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan in the fourth episode of the (in)famous talk show ‘Koffee With Karan: Season 8’, admitted that although it was frustrating to get her words twisted and taken out of context by detractors, she has come to terms with the fact that she couldn’t control how the public perceives her marriage and her personal life.

“I have a very candid way of speaking so even when I’m talking about anything in my life, I like to imitate the person that I’m talking about, I like to give anecdotes, I like to make it personal. I feel like a lot of things just get picked out of context which happened recently,” she told the director-talk show host.

The ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ star admitted to being unnerved by the rumours and endless speculation about her husband’s alleged toxic behaviour, as she knew he was not like what the public perceived him to be. “I think the only reason I felt bad, or feel bad is that if people misunderstand, is because he’s genuinely the opposite of all of that,” she said.

Bhatt said it was Kapoor who helped her cultivate a positive attitude and ignore naysayers. “Ranbir says that "Alia, the audience owns you, they can say what the hell they want about you. As long as your movies are doing well, please do not complain about sitting in your apartment in Bandra,” she recalled.

Kareena, who is known to be close to her cousin, agreed with his no-nonsense and pragmatic approach to handling rumours.

On the work front, Bhatt is busy with her next film ‘Jigra’. Also starring Vedang Raina (of ‘The Archies’ fame), the action thriller will be helmed by Vasan Bala. Bhatt also achieved two professional milestones this year. She secured the position as box-office queen, with the hit rom-com ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahanii’.

She also bagged a prestigious National Award for her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed period drama cum biopic ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.

She will team up yet again with SLB and her ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahanii’ co-star Ranveer Singh, for another period drama ‘Baiju Bawra’.
