    IMD warns of cyclonic circulation over Andhra coast. These states to see heavy rainfall

    Synopsis

    The India Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rainfall in southern and western states due to cyclonic circulation over Andhra Pradesh coast and off-shore troughs. Heavy rainfall expected in certain regions from 7th to 10th July. Residents advised to stay updated on weather alerts.

    IMD has warned of heavy rainfall in many parts of south India.
    A cyclonic circulation is currently situated over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal off the south Andhra Pradesh coast, extending into the middle tropospheric levels, according to India Meteorological Department. Concurrently, an off-shore trough at mean sea level stretches along the south Gujarat-Kerala coasts. These weather systems are expected to cause widespread rains in many southern and western states.

    Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, and the Gujarat region, IMD said. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra & Kutch, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka. Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is forecasted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Rayalaseema.

    Heavy Rainfall Predictions

    Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan & Goa from the 7th to the 10th; Madhya Maharashtra from the 8th to the 10th; Marathwada on the 8th; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema; Telangana on the 8th & 9th; Coastal Karnataka on the 10th; North Interior Karnataka on 9th; South Interior Karnataka on the 8th & 9th; and Kerala & Mahe from the 6th to the 9th of July.

    Additionally, the monsoon trough is positioned near normal at mean sea level. A cyclonic circulation extends over southwest Uttar Pradesh up to mid-tropospheric levels, with a trough running from southwest Uttar Pradesh to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam in lower tropospheric levels, according to IMD. Another trough extends from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh to northeast Arabian Sea in middle tropospheric levels.
