Parag Agrawal loses CEO post, but still a winner in Twitter's sale to Elon Musk. See howAgencies
Elon Musk has signed a contract with Twitter after months of uncertainty. His first move as Twitter's owner was to fire a few of the company's top executives. CEO Parag Agrawal, General Counsel Vijaya Gadde and CFO Ned Segal, were all a part of this.

At least for Twitter and the employees there, Parag appears to have emerged as the true winner in all of this drama. Like other high-ranking executives who were let go, Agrawal is leaving with a severance package that may be well over $42 million. Musk wasn't precisely unhappy with Parag when Jack Dorsey, Twitter's former CEO, left his position and asked him to be replaced. He did, however, have problems with Parag even then.

The fact that Musk believed the Twitter administration is ineffective, and that he despised Agrawal and desired to get rid of him as quickly as he acquired the company are both evidenced by his leaked chats.

Musk was well aware of his $44 billion purchase of Twitter. In addition to pressuring Musk to proceed with the sale, Parag ensured that he acquired Twitter for the amount Musk had proposed initially, even though Twitter's current value is nowhere near that amount. Many industry experts think that Musk's choice to pretend and back out of the agreement was a cunning ploy to persuade the Twitter board of directors to accept a significantly lower offer.

His package is over $42 million.
