Synopsis

Over the last few years, we at ET Prime closely followed the inside and outside of the container industry. Here is a cross section of stories that details a tumultuous period in this industry that forms the backbone of the world’s trade.

The ocean shipping industry which moves a bulk of international cargo, saw an extended cost escalation starting the pandemic. It now however seems to be bordering on normalcy. Shipping rates across major markets are falling to their lowest levels since December 2020. This is largely driven by two factors. Increasing inflation and slowing economic growth has impacted demand. Supply chain congestion at major ports of the world have also normalised
