ON DOOR CONCEPTS LTD Q4 RESULTS

For risk takers with medium term perspective: 4 small caps from different sectors with an upside potential of up to 30%

Indian markets are correcting in line with the global markets. How long this phase will continue is an open ended question because when will the US Fed act is something which is still not clear at this point. If one looks at the Indian market, just before this global issue came up they have been doing well, both in terms of the performance at the level of Nifty and broader market breadth which has not been that bad as it used to be in March when it was Indian specific correction. The way things are panning out even in this correction, the probability that Indian markets will be able to outperform global peers seems to be high at this point of time. So, in a way these corrections are opportunities for a medium to long term perspective but only if you buy stocks where they meet certain parameters, especially in small cap segments where risk and reward are of different nature.

Long term investing with a different perspective: 4 stocks of companies with strong brands which have stood the test of time

Just take a small test, how many brands of pressure cooker can you recall. One or maybe two. It does not mean that there are only two companies which make pressure cookers. The answer is no. Now let's move to another sector, the water purification system, again maybe one or two. Now let's put this in context. Recently an FMCG company with a big power of cash to spend and distribution system, sold its water purification business to another company. The reason for moving out? it was not able to make a dent in this niche industry. That is what the power of an established brand can do, it can beat even the best of the competition which has the power of cash. There are companies which have brands which have remained strong and grown for many decades and they have grown, not to say they haven't faced issues, but finally they have grown.

In a growing economy, new defensive sectors tend to emerge: 5 tiles and ceramic and home makers stocks with upside potential of up to 41%

Many times the word, defensive stocks is used on the street. Most of the time it is FMCG, pharma and others which are referred to as defensive stocks. The reason being that the demand for these companies is steady and is not impacted much even when there is any slowdown in an economy. The question is in an economy which is growing faster and new areas of consumption are coming up every second day, where the demand from being seasonal and cyclical has reached a stage where in all economic conditions it stays above single digit, shouldn't those also be considered as defensive and valued accordingly. Probably the Indian economy has reached a stage where the demand for tiles, ceramic and home building products, ex-cement has reached a level where in worst cases it will not go below a point.
