I've been a subscriber to the economist since roughly 2006. I've been using the app since roughly 2011. Unfortunately this afternoon, 8, August 2024, the application has stopped allowing for downloads of the most recent edition to the newspaper. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the application with no success. I suspect the issue is on The Economist's end and not necessarily the application as it does still allow for the downloading of older editions. Perhaps you can help?

Great magazine, but alas, a poor app! And it appears Economist has incentives against fixing some of the bugs. For example, why does the app refresh if you keep an article open and minimize it for a little while?! Why do bookmarks not synchronize between different devices? I've seen users complain about these long time ago and they are still not fixed.

Changing my review feom a 5 to a 3. I love The Economist as a publication. But their Android app has absurdly bad performance. Long load times, unresponsive UI, articles take several taps to open or don't open at all, etc. There is no reason for a news app not to be snappy and quick. Once performance improves, I will change back to a 5.
