Life is intense, especially when we are in startup mode and embrace new projects, right? Here is a quick update from my end and a special deal at the end of this post 😉 In the last few months, my team and I at Beluga Linguistics started a new adventure around the following questions: 1️⃣ Can we empower our colleagues from client organizations, fellow LSPs, and other professionals in our industry to learn how to use the language tech we have been using on our clients' projects for so many years? 2️⃣ Can we do this in a way that is engaging, practical and efficient? 3️⃣ And can this become a business? Why all this, you might ask? Because managing these tools and technologies today is crucial to bring products and services out to the market with speed, quality, at the right cost and in a secure manner. There is nothing better than learning by doing. So following the Just Do It philosophy we set out and created a Sprint for MVP (minimum viable product) to see what it takes to find answers to our questions. We successfully designed our first open empowerment courses around Crowdin Enterprise, the most sophisticated version of the cutting-edge translation management system (mainly used by large organizations) and accomplished three training cohorts. Nazaret Lázaro and Raquel Martínez Porras successfully guided our first "beta learners" through the four days of the course with the promise to offer them confidence in the management of the tool and expert advise from practionairs. The experience was fantastic. We all learned a lot as a "learning community". Edwin Trebels, Angelin Diana Débora Ferroni Avi, Marta Boer and William Cassemiro wrote about it in their posts. A big thanks to all participants for the feedback you provided during our training sessions. We adjusted many things on the fly and there is a lot to figure out still but I feel we could confirm questions 1 and 2 in these test runs. The challenge is now to see if we can break question 3 and prove that this can become a sustainable business. What I know for sure is that it will take full attention. We need to figure out scalability, unit economics and count on great partners on the way to cater the needs of our future learners. Learning must be fast and efficient with a reasonable price tag.
