Yesterday marked an important milestone and was a big day for me. We opened our fourth Verge Motorcycles store, this time in Europe’s largest shopping centre, Westfield Centro in Germany. This event concludes the first wave of store openings that began seven months ago, a journey that has been part of my daily work since then. Designing the retail concept and scaling it from a “glass box” in Los Angeles to the more traditional spaces in Santa Clara and Germany, and the smaller open “pop up” style store in London has been an invaluable learning experience. The store in Centro holds a special place in my heart as I got the opportunity to lead the construction process from start to finish. It felt amazing to see the teamwork and effort we all put into the project bring the space to life, turning it into something we can be very proud of. Being there as the doors opened and we welcomed excited people to experience our motorcycles for the first time was the reward that made it all worth it. The rollout of these stores has been a huge success, and the whole team can be very proud of what we have achieved. New stores are already in the pipeline, so the story continues! Special shoutout to Eetu-Kasper Heikkinen who has worked with me tirelessly, creating amazing 3D renders and designing the different elements needed to bring these four spaces to life. And of course, George Blankenship, who has been a huge support throughout the process, sharing his wealth of experience and wisdom in opening retail stores. Lastly, a big thank you to Troy Silva and Matias Rinta-Valkama for their tireless effort at the end to push the German store across the finish line, making it the beautiful space that it became! And Mark Laukkanen for all the great work in designing the online experience around these four stores.
