We organized our first official meeting of clean energy companies to gather insights from developers on their export needs and barriers first-hand. 🌎💪🏼 This information will be taken as valuable feedback by our partner EASi ja KredExi ühendasutus (Enterprise Estonia) to develop further already available export services offered by the state or create new ones.
Companies brought attention to 4️⃣ main barriers:
1. Complex and costly certification processes
Certification processes can be time-consuming and often pose a significant hurdle for businesses with limited resources, impacting their market readiness and overall competitiveness. Simplifying local certification procedures could enable companies bring their innovative technologies to new markets more efficiently.
2. Limited local piloting opportunities
The ability to pilot and test new technologies locally is crucial for demonstrating their reliability outside the home market. Many companies struggle with a lack of sufficient piloting opportunities within Estonia. Therefore, increased support for local piloting initiatives is needed.
3. Lack of necessary contacts
Building a quality network of contacts is essential for successful market entry and expansion. Many companies highlighted the challenge of establishing connections with key stakeholders, partners and customers in foreign markets.
4. Unclear regulations in target markets
Navigating the regulatory landscape of different countries can be daunting. Unclear or changing regulations in target markets create uncertainty and present significant risks for companies looking to expand internationally. Providing better guidance, support and resources to help companies understand and comply with foreign regulations would alleviate this barrier.
