Late thought on Q2, a 3 months of much needed momentum in #Egypt and a growing flow of AI startups in #MENA Kicked off with the amazing Startups Without Borders summit, where I had the honor of sharing the stage with Amazon Egypt GM Omar Elsahy and Walid Ramadan of IPA where we shared some views on #OpenInnovation moderated by the great orchestrator Margreet. Valentina and Nader brought in the brightest minds from all over the world, great organization and only positive vibes. A week after, there was RiseUp where you always meet friends, inspiring founders, and global talents thanks to Amr Hussain and the team. The following week, Vijay Tirathrai paid me a visit where we had some interesting meetings with potential partners, organized a community event in #Cairo at CONSOLEYA with Roaa Ahmed, Sabrine Assem and Salman, and attended Techne which was by far the best. Tarek A. El Kady and his team keep on raising the bar 🚀 it was fun to meet Chiara de Caro, Salman Butt, Hussain Almarhoon, & Francesco Cracolici outside of 🇸🇦 and 🇦🇪. Today, I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Hanan Abdel Meguid for her incredible dedication to community building! For those who don’t already know, Hanan is a one of the most well-known angel investors in Egypt. She used to be the CEO of OTI Ventures, the tech arm of Naguib Sawiris’s empire. On top of that, she founded CONSOLEYA, a beautiful blend of Egyptian elegance in architecture and a vibrant heart of our ecosystem. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending Hani W. Naguib session in CONSOLEYA, where he shared #insights from his distinguished book “Mindset to Startups.” Hani's session actually helped me adding new dimensions to the book … i.e. I thought it is a must to translate it into Arabic, a process that Hani confirmed is already in progress … I’m looking forward to seeing the upcoming Arabic edition on shelves soon. Another idea that resonated with me was the concept of arranging a “critique session,” involving two critics, a founder, and a mentor. This session would delve deep into the book's content and then critically discuss with Hani the key elements relevant to entrepreneurs journeys’ giving real time practical examples .. to me, this will surely maximize the book's benefits.
