Within the project, it is planned to build a gas processing and petrochemical complex with a capacity of about 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually (its plants will be the largest enterprises in the world in this segment), a gas-powered ethylene pyrolysis plant with a capacity of 610,000 tons, a propylene plant with a capacity of 130,000 tons and a polyethylene plant with a capacity of 600,000 tons as well as
Butene-1 and Hexene-1 plants, general facilities and energy heat center.

Butene-1 production complex
Originally scheduled for completion in 1987, the 330,000 t/y ethylene complex under Phase-II came on stream in June 1995, together with a unit with the capacity to produce 90,000 t/y of propylene and 22,000 t/y of
butene-1. The 250,000 t/y swing plant to produce HDPE and/or LLDPE came on stream in late 1995, along with an 80,000 t/y PP plant.
Its product range and capacities have been expanded since then to include 1.95 mtpy of ethylene; 100,000 tpy of polystyrene; 70,000 tpy of benzene; 70,000 tpy of butadiene; 100,000 tpy of
butene-1; and varying quantities of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and styrene.
"This is why even in the engineering phase for a
butene-1 metathesis plant, we are looking at ethylene as an alternative co-feedstock aiming to target an even higher value of products portfolio."
CB&I will provide Feed services for a grassroots 800,000 tonnes per year ethylene plant, a pygas unit, an MTBE and
butene-1 unit, two polymer plants, a gas plant and pipeline and related off-sites and utilities.
It will include an ethylene cracking plant, high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant, linear low density polyethylene plant (LLDPE), new polypropylene plant, MTBE plant,
butene-1 plant and associated utilities and off-site facilities.
CB&I will provide the CDMtbe technology for a new 90,000 tonne per annum high conversion MTBE unit, the technology for a 41,000 MTA
butene-1 recovery unit, and the NGL-MAX (SM) gas processing technology for a new 18 million standard cu m per day natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction plant.

Butene-1, MTBE and C4 Raffinates, which are major raw materials of downstream petrochemical processes such as the manufacturing of synthetic rubbers and plastic resins.
