Her first crime novel is called "Todo Personal," which takes place in the Salvadoran capital, and it approaches issues related to gangs, social exclusion, the stratification of society and how there are forces that will do everything to keep the status quo. Melara worked at Diario El Mundo, in El Salvador, at Wave Community Newspapers, and for over ten years at the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States, La Opinión, based in Los Angeles. In addition, she has experience as a news producer and as a presenter of special segments on different television stations in the Los Angeles city. She is a passionate advocate for equity and representation in media outlets and newsrooms.
