  • Africa faces significant challenges in its #coldchain infrastructure, leading to massive food waste and inadequate pharmaceutical storage. With inefficient supply chains wasting up to 50% of food production, enough to feed 300 million people, urgent action is crucial. Sub-Saharan Africa, reliant on smallholder farming, suffers from insufficient #coldstorage, exacerbating losses. Investment in sustainable cold chain solutions is pivotal. This not only enhances food security and reduces post-harvest losses but also supports pharmaceutical distribution, potentially saving 1.5 million lives annually. Countries like Rwanda are already pioneering eco-friendly cooling technologies, illustrating the transformative potential of strategic investments. Natalia Millos García, Valentina Rincon Giraldo and Joan Miquel Vilardell invite you to explore how improving cold chain #logistics can foster economic growth, ensure food security, and enhance #pharmaceutical access in Africa. • In recent years, space activity has surged, especially in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), driving industry growth with projections to exceed $1 trillion by 2030. This expansion, driven by reduced costs and advanced launch technologies, introduces new complexities in #airspace interactions, particularly with reusable launchers and commercial infrastructure. Effective #SpaceTrafficManagement (STM) is crucial to address these challenges. European organizations, alongside EUROCONTROL, are working to enhance coordination between #AirTrafficManagement (#ATM) and STM. Key actions include aligning stakeholders, improving system integration, and developing contingency plans. A recent uncontrolled re-entry incident in Spain underscores the need for better ATM-STM collaboration to prevent future disruptions. 🔗 Read the full article written by David Sabirón Paniagua, Mario Cano Diaz and Andrea Ranieri and explore these critical developments and their impact on the future of air and space operations: https://lnkd.in/dXNS59St

  • The increasing interconnectivity of airports has indeed driven the consolidation of hubs, compelling airports to evaluate their roles in the global network of #airtravel connections. As they aim to expand and optimize their networks, airports are confronted with the pivotal challenge of analyzing current trends in connection fees. This analysis is essential for determining their competitive position within the international #aviation landscape. In this context, airports must conduct thorough analyses to benchmark their connection fees against those of other major hubs globally. Understanding prevailing trends involves examining how fees impact airline economics, passenger convenience, and overall operational efficiency. This assessment helps airports strategically position themselves to attract more traffic and strengthen their hub status. Moreover, as airports enhance their networks, they need to adapt to changing dynamics in global aviation. This includes accommodating shifts in airline alliances, passenger preferences, and technological advancements that influence connectivity patterns. In the context of #airport interconnectivity and the consolidation of hubs, Joan Mallafré and Bibiana Blanch have analyzed how airports can strategically position themselves by examining #connectionfees and their competitive stance on the global stage: https://lnkd.in/e2XnaS-E

  • 🚀 The integration of drones into #multimodal #logistics chains is revolutionizing how we approach last-mile #delivery. While traditional methods like trucks, airplanes, and boats remain essential, drones excel in scenarios where environmental challenges and specific needs demand more agile and adaptive solutions. 🚁 Drones become most useful in scenarios where land-based or maritime transportation fails to support supply chains due to environmental context or specific transport needs. On-demand drone transport allows for a more adaptive delivery system based on both product and facility characteristics. 🚚 By leveraging the strengths of both traditional and drone-based #transportation, companies can create more resilient and flexible logistics networks. This hybrid approach ensures that each mode of transport is used where it is most effective, optimizing delivery times, reducing costs, and improving service levels. As drone technology continues to advance and regulatory frameworks evolve, the role of drones in multimodal logistics chains is expected to grow, further enhancing #supplychain performance. 👉 The diagram below illustrates how drones complement these traditional methods, enhancing efficiency and responsiveness in supply chains. 🔗 Want to learn more? • 🚝 High-speed rail (#HSR) networks are constantly and rapidly expanding in almost every geography due to their excellent performance, passenger experience, and the environmental benefits such as the reduction of CO2 emissions. 🚄 In addition to the clear environmental benefits of #HighSpeedRail in comparison to #Aviation and #Airtransport, rail offers a better traveler experience for the passenger for some trips due to the following 5 key factors:  1️⃣ Door-to-Door (D2D) Travel Time: HSR possesses can provide quicker door-todoor (D2D) travel times than air travel in certain cases, particularly in short to medium-distance (200-600km) journeys. This is because D2D travel time refers to the total time it takes for a traveler to commute from their starting point to their final destination. The advantage is primarily due to city center location of the terminals, efficient boarding processes, and simplified security procedures. 2️⃣ Frequency: HSR systems have the capacity to operate frequently throughout the day in accordance with demand, providing passengers with a wider range of slots to choose from compared to air travel. As frequency possesses a strong relationship with influencing consumer demand, continuing to increase frequencies, as well as reducing prices, through methods such as breaking monopolies will further propel HSR as a more favorable option relative to rail.  3️⃣ Price: HSR offers competitive and, in many cases, much lower ticket prices compared to air travel, making it a more cost-effective option for many travelers.  4️⃣ Reliability & Punctuality: HSR systems are known for their consistent reliability and punctuality; they offer timely departures and arrivals along with minimal delays relative to air travel, which can be significantly disrupted by weather conditions, air traffic congestion, aircraft operations, etc. Since HSR systems typically use dedicated infrastructure (i.e., their infrastructure assets are specifically built, maintained, and operated for HSR) the networks do not experience the same high levels of congestion and uncertainty as aviation.  5️⃣ Comfort: HSR offers more comfortable security procedures together with spacious seating, the ability to move around during travel, restaurant and bar facilities, and no restrictions on electronic devices, making for a more enjoyable travel experience. 🔗 Download our whitepaper written by Cesar Valero Mendoza, Daniel Regueiro Sánchez and Ashlee Sprock and and explore the key drivers that contribute to HSR's enhanced performance on selected routes: https://lnkd.in/dHHeKFiS

  • At ALG, we continue to share the testimonials of our consultants who have experienced the Erasmus Programme. We are filled with gratitude knowing that, with initiatives like these, we are fostering and promoting skills beyond the technical, but are extremely important from a human perspective, such as communication, empathy, team synergy, and interculturality. We share the experience of Kamal Mouawad, who spent 3 months on exchange from our Dubai office to the Barcelona office: "From professional growth to personal experiences, the programme has it all. With the lively streets of Barcelona, and the youthful spirit of the office, I felt welcomed, but most importantly happy. Learning from different cultures and shortly adjusting to a different lifestyle has made me embrace life at ALG. Working in an office with my fellow consultants in Spain has boosted my trust in diversity and multinational work environments. I am also convinced that communication and office interaction are key to developing professionally and realizing a team’s full potential". As a Lebanese national working in the UAE, Kamal expressed gratitude for the opportunity the Erasmus Programme provided to explore various cities in Spain and across Europe within a condensed timeframe, an experience that would have been challenging to replicate without the program's support. "I was able to meet with my team whom I have worked remotely for so long. This has helped me learn, interact, and absorb aspects that are usually limited by our daily screens. I am grateful for ALG and for this programme", Kamal highlighted.
