Read our latest blog article: "Water and Tourism: Keys to Responsible and Efficient Management." Tourism is a powerful driver of economic and cultural development, but it also poses unique challenges in water management. Discover how innovative solutions are transforming the tourism sector into a model of sustainability and efficiency. Highlights: 💧 While a person consumes between fifty and two hundred liters of water per day in Europe, a tourist can consume more than four hundred liters of water per day. 💧 Through Ridgewood for Water Desalination Egypt, we have more than 60 active BOO/BOT contracts with a total capacity of 90,000 m³/d, including decentralized desalination plants supplying the hotel sector. 🔗 Read the full article to learn more about our efforts in promoting sustainable water management in tourism and how we can all contribute to preserving this vital resource: https://lnkd.in/dQpirHa2 #SustainableTourism #WaterManagement #AlmarWaterSolutions #Innovation #Sustainability #Tourism

“It took hundreds of thousands of years for the world population to grow to 1 billion – then in just another 200 years or so, it grew sevenfold. In 2011, the global population reached the 7 billion mark, it stands at almost 7.9 billion in 2021, and it's expected to grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050, and 10.9 billion in 2100.” (United Nations) As the world’s population continues to rise, the demand for clean, accessible water becomes more urgent than ever. On this #WorldPopulationDay, we recognize the critical role water plays in supporting our growing global community. At Almar Water Solutions, we are committed to providing innovative water solutions that ensure sustainable water management for communities and industries worldwide. By developing advanced water infrastructure and treatment technologies, we help meet the increasing water demands while protecting our precious water resources. Did you know that the industrial sector is the second-largest consumer of water globally, using approximately 19% of the world's freshwater consumption? Efficient water management is crucial for industries to maintain sustainable operations and minimize their environmental impact. At Almar Water Solutions, we understand the importance of water in industrial processes. Our innovative solutions help industries optimize water usage, reduce waste, and enhance their overall efficiency. From advanced water treatment systems to sustainable water recycling technologies, we offer tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each industry. Our Centinela water transport project, in collaboration with Transelec S.A. and Grupo Antofagasta Minerals, is a prime example of how we provide efficient and sustainable water solutions for the mining industry. Unlocking the Potential of Green Hydrogen Production: A Closer Look at Water Harmony Green hydrogen, a beacon for decarbonization, emerges from electrolyzing water with renewable energy like solar, wind, and hydro. Yet, demystifying the water demands of this process is crucial. While alternative hydrogen production methods exist, electrolysis seems unmatched for large-scale production. The stoichiometric ratio dictates 9 kg (approximately 9 liters) of water to produce 1 kg of hydrogen. Yet, the reality of accounting for water purification efficiency varies. Obtaining 9 kg of ultrapure water may require 14 to 18 liters, depending on the source (rivers, reused water from treatment plants, etc.). Notably, seawater demands around 30 liters due to desalination. Additionally, the electrolyzer's cooling process can multiply these figures by 2 to 4, depending on the technology employed. Consider replacing Spain's current hydrogen production (500,000 tons of grey hydrogen from natural gas) with green hydrogen. This shift would entail water consumption equivalent to sustaining a community of approximately 150,000 people. Looking ahead to 2040, with an anticipated surge in green hydrogen production, water becomes a critical factor—especially for large-scale plants in water-stressed regions. Almar Water Solutions addresses these challenges by sourcing water responsibly, managing project permits, and optimizing processes for chosen electrolyzer quality. Our "Water Outsourcing" model enables project owners to focus solely on their business. Almar Water Solutions & Transelec S.A. Take Over Centinela's First Water Pipeline! 📅 On June 17, we celebrated a significant milestone with Transelec S.A. and Grupo Antofagasta Minerals at the transfer ceremony of the first water transportation pipeline to our consortium. This major infrastructure project, located in Michilla, spans 144 km and transports 1,194 lps (110,678 m3/day) of seawater, ensuring sustainable water supply for the Minera Centinela site. 💡 This project is a testament to our commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. As Carlos Cosín, CEO of Almar Water Solutions, stated, "The project we celebrate today is a significant example of innovation and collaboration. The 144 km pipelines that will capture seawater for Minera Centinela are a perfect example of how we can overcome water challenges." 🔧 The transfer also includes plans for a new parallel water pipeline, enhancing capacity and supporting the expansion of the Nueva Centinela mine. This will enable the extraction of 144,000 tons of copper, 3,500 tons of molybdenum, and 130,000 ounces of gold annually, all while preserving local freshwater resources. 🌍 At Almar Water Solutions, we're dedicated to providing sustainable solutions that protect precious water resources for future generations, ensuring responsible and environmentally conscious development. This project not only strengthens our regional platform in Chile but also marks the first major undertaking for our Asset Management division in Latin America, solidifying our commitment and expansion in the region.
