Nearby Computing, a prominent platform specializing in orchestration and automation for Edge Computing, has successfully closed a Series A financing round, raising €6.5 million to fuel its market expansion. Established in 2018 in Barcelona as a spin-off from the Barcelona Barcelona Supercomputing Center Center (BSC), Nearby Computing empowers industrial enterprises and the telecommunications sector to fully leverage the advantages of Edge Computing technology. During our recent trip to Shenzhen, we presented Barcelona’s business ecosystem to key stakeholders from public institutions and leading Chinese companies across various sectors, including technology, photonics, and life sciences. This initiative was part of a business exchange programme aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening ties between Barcelona and Shenzhen, organised by Puente China España.  Montse Puig Ponsico Puig, representing Barcelona Global through its investment attraction agency, Barcelona & Partners, had the opportunity to showcase the innovative work being done in Barcelona and explore potential partnerships with Chinese institutions and companies. On our trip to Shenzhen, we visited the spectacular headquarters of Huawei and had the opportunity of witnessing firsthand, the inner workings of a Chinese tech giant. Montse Puig Ponsico Puig, representing Barcelona Global through its investment attraction agency, was given a guided tour of the premises. This comes as Huawei announced the launch of its Digital Pioneer Programme in Spain last week, vowing to accelerate the digital journey of local SMEs.
