La semana pasada tuvimos el placer de participar en el #MexicoCarbonForum. Fue una excelente oportunidad para conectar con diversos actores que están impulsando un mercado voluntario de carbono más competitivo y transparente. Nos enorgullece ser parte de estos eventos que buscan posicionar a México y Latinoamérica como un foco de desarrollo de proyectos de alta calidad. 🌎 En Carbon2Nature, reafirmamos constantemente el potencial de las alianzas para generar impacto territorial, acción climática de calidad y contribuir de manera directa a la conservación y restauración de la naturaleza. Sabemos que alcanzar las metas globales para 2030 y 2050 es un desafío enorme, y el trabajo colectivo es fundamental. 🌳 We are thrilled to announce an exciting partnership! 🌳 We have signed a strategic alliance with hummingbirds, a leading company in nature-based projects, to develop an ambitious forestry project in Spain. This project will cover almost 600ha in three key sites in the Castilla y León provinces of Soria, Zamora, and Palencia, significantly contributing to the conservation and enhancement of our forest ecosystems. Our mission? Restoring degraded land through the following initiatives: 👉 Afforesting 60 hectares of previously barren and degraded land to create new forests and reverse soil erosion. 👉 Sustainably managing 535 ha of forest ecosystem, including the reforestation of 317 ha and the gradual transformation of coniferous forests into a mixed forest with broadleaves species of great ecological value But that's not all! The project will also include many additional benefits such as: 🦅 🐸 Boosting biodiversity: monitoring and preserving habitats with state-of-the-art MRV and promoting measures such new bird feeding areas or an amphibian pond. 🌳 🌡️ Adapting to climate change: planting a mix of native, resilient species, and implementing water management and wildfire risk reduction measures. 🐝🍄 Enhancing local value chains: diversifying the natural resources produced by the forest, such as rockrose and mushrooms to support the local economy. ✨ Fighting climate change: Removing more than 220,000 tons of CO2 equivalent from the atmosphere over the next 50 years. We are excited to embark on this new phase and work together with partners who are passionate about nature. Last week our colleagues Celia Jiménez Gonzalo and Jara García de la Cruz López had the opportunity to attend the IUFRO World Congress in Stockholm organised by the IUFRO - International Union of Forest Research Organizations. An event that brought together about 5,000 people, all dedicated to preserving and enhancing our forests and the many services they provide to us. It has been a great opportunity to listen to very interesting presentations on biodiversity, sustainability, and innovation, three of the keys elements that underpin our nature-based projects. We have returned with great ideas, new alliances, and a lot of positive energy to continue working on promoting the implementation of forestry projects for a better planet. Thank you very much to all who make these events possible and bring together all the global knowledge. See you at the next IUFRO World Congress 2029, Nairobi (Kenya)!
