#CLOSERleukemia's final event in Barcelona was a landmark moment!    In 2019 CLOSER_Leukemia united 14 partners from 8 countries, with the ambitious goal of equalizing the survival rates of children with leukemia in Europe and Latin America. In CLOSER’s final event Sabine Strehl, Dagmar Schinnerl and João Frade from St. Anna CCRI together with our colleagues at the Barcelona Children's Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, reflected on accomplishments and challenges but also on how the CLOSER legacy may continue bringing benefits to patients, and future priorities, which include taking the patients’ voice into consideration in future EU projects.   A key initiative has been to improve the characterization of leukemia subtypes and diagnostic processes, tailored to the needs of our diverse partners. This effort was co-led by the groups of Sabine Strehl and Marisa Felice. Yesterday was the last day of CLOSER Final Event in Barcelona! It's been a long road since we started this project 5 years ago and we are very happy with our accomplishments regarding the improvement of the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of children with leukemia in Latin America.
