🔬 Leonard Muke begins secondment to Doosan Škoda Power in Pilsen - a major milestone in his research! 🌍 We're pleased to announce that our PhD student, Leonard Muke, has started his secondment to Doosan Škoda Power in Pilsen (Czech Republic) as part of his PhD research entitled "Dynamic Operation of sCO2 Power Generation Systems Under Variable Load and Variable Energy Input"🔋. In these early days, Leonard has been heavily involved in his research 📚 while also exploring opportunities to contribute to the company's projects. He is working with the Turbine Development team and the Thermodynamics and Cycle Performance group 🔄 with ongoing discussions on how he can assist in these areas 🤝. There's also promising potential for him to be involved in a sCO2 project with the Research Centre Res, in which he may also participate 🤓. This experience will enrich his research and contribute significantly to the development of sCO2 power systems. Already on my way to the '6th Thermal, Mechanical and Chemical Energy Storage Workshop' #tmces organised by Klaus Brun, Tim Allison and Scott Hume and hosted by EPRI in Charlotte, NC. The organisers have put together an awesome programme with renowned, high-level speakers from the R&D community and industry. On Wednesday and Thursday this week, we will have the opportunity to attend presentations and engage in open discussions about how the future landscape of energy storage will be shaped. There will be electrochemical batteries in that future, yes. But there will also be many other technologies enabling larger scales, longer durations and other features not within reach of EB that are very much needed if a fully decarbonised grid relying on, mostly, renewable energies is ever to become a reality. 🚀 Exciting Announcement! 🚀 We are thrilled to share that the secondments for our ISOP doctoral candidates are officially starting! Leading the way is Leonard Muke, who is embarking this week on a two-month secondment period at the Department of Energy Engineering of Doosan Škoda Power. 🔍 During this time, Leonard will research the dynamic performance of supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) cycles.
