🔴 This past Wednesday, May 15th, we had a wonderful experience at the event Emotional Care and Hospital Clowns in the Digital Era🤡 organized in collaboration with Pallapupas and Hospital del Mar as part of the Virtual Healthcare Clown project. 🔹We want to express our deepest gratitude to all the organizations and participants who made this meeting possible. It was a pleasure to share with you the integration of emotional care into the healthcare system, the impact of humor, and digital transformation! 🩺🏥 We also want to thank Marja Huiskamp for her wonderful and friendly leadership during the event, as well as Reality Telling and Seyla from Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau for their excellent contributions. It was a pleasure to have enjoyed this time together and to share the space at Tech Barcelona! Les sessions de VR han tot un èxit! 👓 👉 S'han realitzat sessions setmanals d’uns 15 minuts a un total de 25 participants, amb una edat mitjana de 75 anys. L’objectiu ha estat arribar a fer 8 sessions, dins el programa de rehabilitació cognitiva convencional al #CSSC. ✅

🌐 Embracing Virtual Reality for Cognitive Stimulation at Badalona Serveis Assistencials Excited to share a glimpse into our latest project at Badalona Serveis Assistencials (BSA), where we're leveraging virtual reality for cognitive stimulation in patients with mild cognitive impairment. This innovative approach, part of our ongoing commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology in healthcare, is making significant strides in enhancing patient care and rehabilitation. 🧠 A New Dimension in Cognitive Therapy Our project, conducted at the Sociosanitari El Carme Centre, focuses on using VR to complement traditional cognitive rehabilitation programs. The VR sessions, designed with familiar environments and significant landmarks of Badalona created by Reality Telling, provide an immersive experience that's not possible with conventional video formats. This method allows patients to engage in tasks involving attention, planning, reasoning, and calculation, effectively applying these skills in their daily lives. 🔍 Study and Outcomes The primary objective of this scientific study is to assess the acceptability of the VR-based cognitive stimulation program among patients. We also aim to investigate the changes in cognitive performance, particularly in attention and memory, pre- and post-VR intervention. Moreover, the project seeks to gather insights for future immersive experiences targeted at patients with cognitive impairments. 📈 Positive Reception and Future Prospects The initial response from both healthcare professionals and patients has been overwhelmingly positive. Notably, the adherence to this initiative has been significant, with patients perceiving the VR experiences as 'real' and eagerly looking forward to continuing. 🏆 Celebrating Innovation and Excellence: A Milestone at II Jornada de Recerca de Badalona Serveis Assistencials (BSA) 🗓️ On October 27, 2023, we gathered from 10:30 to 15:00 at the auditorium of the Hospital Municipal de Badalona for the second installment of Jornada de Recerca de BSA, themed "Nous Nexes – Nous Reptes." The event was a stellar representation of the collaborative spirit and ingenuity at BSA, fostering synergies between research teams across our organization. 🔍 Our research committee had the challenging task of selecting impactful projects from 2022-2023 to present in a concise 4x4 format—four slides in four minutes. These presentations were grouped into three categories: observational studies, publications/posters, and Innovation - New Ideas. 🎙️ Our gathering was graciously inaugurated by BSA's Manager, Dr. Pilar Otermin, and featured an inaugural conference led by Dr. Xavier Bayona Huguet MD, a specialist in Family and Community Medicine and an expert in Primary Care Management. 🏅 And now, for the highlight of the event—the awards ceremony, presided over by Dr. Cristina Carod Pérez Carod and Dr. Juan Manuel Pérez-Castejón Pérez-Castejón. Each awarded project will receive €800 to be invested in further research activities in 2024. 🥇 In the Innovation, moderate by our IT director Manel Hurtado Fernández, we are honored to announce that our project "Development and Evaluation of Virtual Reality Experiences for Cognitive Stimulation" won the first prize. #AWEFoment | Foment del Treball i el Consolat General dels Estats Units a #Barcelona han donat a conèixer les 30 emprenedores seleccionades per a la tercera edició catalana de l’Academy for Women Entrepeneurs (AWE). Fa quatre mesos s’iniciava el procés de selecció entre emprenedores i innovadores socials per optar a aquesta beca impulsada per la patronal i el consolat general dels EUA. Les participants iniciaran ara una combinació de classes magistrals, així com la formació virtual intensiva 100 Milion Learners impartida per l’escola de negocis dels EUA Thunderbird, de l’ Arizona State University. Aquesta formació empresarial té com a objectiu donar suport al desenvolupament i el creixement d’un negoci o projecte emprenedor i potenciar les habilitats en l’àmbit empresarial. El secretari general de Foment, David Tornos Salomó, ha lloat l’esforç de totes les participants en una edició que ha comptat amb una demanda excepcional, amb la recepció de més de 80 candidatures: “La selecció de les 30 finalistes va ser tot un desafiament, la qual cosa parla del nivell de talent i potencial que hem trobat entre les candidates”. Per la seva part, la cònsol de Diplomàcia Pública de l' U.S. Consulate General Barcelona, Nicole (Nikki) Finnemann, ha ressaltat el compromís del govern dels EUA amb el foment del lideratge econòmic de les dones i l’equitat de gènere: “Avui, més que mai, necessitem construir ecosistemes empresarials en els quals es tinguin en compte el talent i les idees de les dones. Ens calen més dones a primera línia del teixit empresarial i en posicions de lideratge”. La directora d’Innovació de Foment, Maria Mora, una de les principals implicades en el projecte, ha explicat més detalladament el calendari i el contingut del programa, i ha assenyalat que les set empreses més destacades d’aquesta edició rebran premis en forma de material tecnològic, hores de mentoria i assessorament legal. Mora ha anunciat que “amb els projectes de les dues edicions passades s’han captat més de 45 milions, mostra ferma de l’impacte positiu i directe que aquesta iniciativa té sobre l’economia i l’ecosistema innovador de Catalunya”. A més, les participants passen a formar part de la gran xarxa global AWE, que compta amb 25.000 dones de 100 països d’arreu del món. 🌟 Innovating for Good: Unveiling EMOTIVA and AUTIS+ at BSA—Technological Therapies for Alzheimer's and Autism 🌟 Today marks an extraordinary milestone for Badalona Serveis Assistencials (BSA). We have officially launched two groundbreaking projects—EMOTIVA and AUTIS+—that leverage technology for therapeutic benefits, and have received commendable municipal institutional support. 🎭 EMOTIVA Inaugurated our Sensory Immersive Room at CSSC today, aiming to offer non-pharmacological therapy for Alzheimer’s and other dementias. A special thanks to Rotary International Club de Badalona and Badalona city council for their support. The inauguration included a commemorative plaque unveiling and showcased various therapeutic audiovisual projections, made possible through collaborations with Broomx and Reality Telling, as part of an ongoing cognitive stimulation study. 🌈 AUTIS+ Also launched today, AUTIS+ aims to enhance therapy for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) using tech-integrated strategies.
