HR Director

Madrid

4 days per week in the office, 1 day at home

Ebury is looking for a Human Resources Director, based in our Madrid office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all HR strategy and operations ensuring that HR strategies and initiatives are aligned with the overall business objectives.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the HR Director will manage the HR Leadership team comprising the Head of HR Shared Services, Head of Payroll, Global Head of Talent Acquisition, Head of People Partnering/Operations, Head of Global Business Services and Head of Internal Communication & Culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the Human Resources Leadership team to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business.
  • Partner with senior leadership to understand and execute the organisation's human resource and talent strategy.
  • Plan and manage the annual budget for the HR department and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that foster organisational and people development.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR legislative requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records.
  • Support and suggest improvements to the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, staff development, and exit processes.
  • Oversee the HR systems and ensure they are efficient and capitalise on the full features of the HR technology.
  • Advise on compensation and benefits; oversee payroll processes.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for HR process improvements and lead the implementation of new systems or policies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Participate in executive, management, and company staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Proven experience as an HR Director or similar senior HR role.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field; professional certification (e.g., CIPD Level 7) is an added advantage.
  • Experience in Financial Services or a similar highly regulated sector is useful
  • Thorough knowledge of HR best practices and current regulations across multiple international jurisdictions
  • Comfortable with making critical policy, planning, and strategy decisions.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and verbal written communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
  • Full professional fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • A second language is always beneficial
