#Allyship
As we enter the last week of Pride Month, we continue to embrace signs of allyship, celebration and resolve. This month has been a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the #LGBTQ+ community. However, a commitment to inclusion and equality must extend beyond June.
With more than 20% of LGBTQ+ employees experiencing discrimination at work, there is an urgent need to protect and support the community year-round. To truly move from INTENT to IMPACT, we must take actionable steps towards inclusivity every single day. Some opportunities are:
1. Educate Yourself and Others: Understanding the historical, cultural, and political significance of the LGBTQ+ movement is crucial. Employers can continue to make it safe to have open conversations and share resources that cover LGBTQ+ issues and history.
2. Create Inclusive Spaces: Inclusive environments ensure that ALL employees feel safe and respected. Employers should provide gender-neutral restrooms and use inclusive language in all communications.
3. Support LGBTQ+ Events and Organizations: Both employers and individuals can show their support by participating in and sponsoring LGBTQ+ events. Volunteering for or donating to LGBTQ+ organizations can also demonstrate a commitment to the community.
Let's take this moment to reflect on our efforts and identify areas for growth. Together, we can create a world where EVERYONE feels valued and respected, no matter their identity. Remember, #allyship is not a one-month commitment—it's a lifelong journey.
