Sobre nosotros

In Materials for Emerging Applications we focus in technological solutions based in advanced materials and components for emerging applications in the field of energy and environment. Covering challenges and prospects for the application of novel materials in the development of next generation energy conversion and storage devices (batteries and fuel cells). Including the expertise on graphene and related materials for improving existing energy and environment related technologies. (e.g. water desalination and batteries). Materials for Emerging Applications (M4EA) is focused in developing advanced materials and components for novel and emerging energy and environmental application., including the following research lines: (1) Materials for Energy Storage: materials and components for increasing performance and durability of novel batteries (redox flow, metal-air, Li-S and Li-ion), fuel cells and electrolysers. From material development, electrode integration to lab testing of cell prototypes under specific electrochemical testing protocols. (2) Materials for Water Treatment: new solutions based in the capacitive deionization technology (CDI) using novel materials based in graphene for water desalination and purification, with the aim of solving existing and forthcoming water treatment needs, both in industrial and urban environments. (3) Sensing Technologies: development and integration of specific sensors to monitor material properties and degradation under specific working conditions (e.g. oil&gas and offshore applications). Some examples of what we do are: • Advanced electrodes and electrolytes for redox flow and metal-air batteries. • Thin-film Li-ion microbatteries, developed by sputtering technologies, and their application to microelectronic devices (sensors, MEMS,..) in the field of IoT and industry 4.0 • Solid state electrolytes for Li-ion batteries based in Organic Ionic Plastic Crystals (OIPC) and ionogels. • Application of advanced surface techno
