Honest Trailer confuses 'Divergent' for 'The Hunger Games'

Honest Trailer Divergent

Divergent and fellow young-adult series The Hunger Gameshave a few things in common—enough things to confuse Screen Junkies, creators of the always-amusing Honest Trailers, into thinking that Divergent actually is The Hunger Games.

In the new Honest Trailer for 2014’s Divergent, the narrator cuts his voiceover short to point out they’ve already made a trailer for The Hunger Games. “So it’s the same movie but without the actual games?” he says once he discovers it is, in fact, Divergent. “That sounds horrible!”

Once that’s settled, the narrator launches into his description: “Enter a world inspired by a woman who read The Hunger Games and said to herself, ‘I can change that slightly and make a ton of money.'” What follows are multiple Hunger Games comparisons, revisions of the Divergent characters’ names (Tris becomes Kattris, Four becomes I Am Number Four), and, of course, a mention of all the Divergent co-stars Shailene Woodley has made out with in other movies. Because we can always use a reminder that Ansel Elgort went from being her brother to her lover.
