TV Article Streamy Awards honor Tyler Oakley, SourceFed and other YouTubers By Jonathon Dornbush Published on September 8, 2014 02:43PM EDT Photo: Kevin Winter/SAs 2014/Getty Images Though the 2014 Emmy Awards have taken much of the recent awards chatter, the Streamy Awards held on Sunday, Sept. 7 honored another form of entertainment, highlighting the best online videos and their creators. The big award for the night went to Tyler Oakley, who won the Audience Choice Entertainer of the Year award thanks to the work on his YouTube channel, which currently has over five million subscribers. Other big winners of the night included My Drunk Kitchen for Best Comedy Series, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries for Best Drama Series, and Vandaveon and Mike, for Best Companion Series—the videos are commentaries of Key & Peele episodes from the comedy duo under their titular pseudonyms. The Streamys, hosted by Hannah Hart of My Drunk Kitchen and Grace Helbig, also included a tribute to Joan Rivers—who delved into online video, including with many of the night's winners, in her series In Bed with Joan.
