Ronan stars as Ellis Lacey, an Irish immigrant who departs her native country for America after World War II and gets swept up in a new romance in her new home — falling in love with an Italian man who takes her to Coney Island and home to meet his family. But that happiness is soon disrupted by her past, and Ellis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist in each. Directed by John Crowley from a screenplay by Nick Hornby and based on the novel by Colm Tóibín, Brooklyn will arrive in theaters this fall.
