A day after Tracy Morgan returned to the public eye by stopping by the Emmys to present an award, the actor and comedian is ready to get back on the big screen as well.

Morgan is in negotiations to join Ice Cube and Charlie Day in the New Line comedy Fist Fight, EW has confirmed. The Wrap first reported Morgan’s potential involvement in the film, which would be his first since recovering from a car crash in June 2014 that left him critically injured and killed fellow comedian James McNair.

Written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux and directed by Richie Keen (who worked with Day on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Fist Fight stars Day as a mild-mannered schoolteacher who gets challenged to fisticuffs by a more imposing co-worker (Cube). Morgan would play the school’s coach, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan’s most recent films were the Chris Rock comedy Top Five and the animated movie The Boxtrolls. His comeback will continue when he hosts Saturday Night Live on Oct. 17.
