TV Article Lauryn Hill supports black and Palestinian activists in solidarity video By Jessica Goodman Published on October 15, 2015 03:29PM EDT Lauryn Hill appeared in a video Wednesday with black and Palestinian activists, in support of freedom and justice. Called “When I See Them I See Us,” the video shows Hill holding a sign emblazoned with the words, “Free All Political Prisoners.” The clip comes out five months after Hill canceled a performance in Tel Aviv after the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement spoke out about her planned show. After she called off the concert, the singer wrote a post on Facebook that said she wouldn’t perform in Israel because she couldn’t also perform for Palestinians living in the West Bank. “Setting up a performance in the Palestinian Territory, at the same time as our show in Israel, proved to be a challenge,” she wrote. “It is very important to me that my presence or message not be misconstrued, or a source of alienation to either my Israeli or my Palestinian fans.” The video released Wednesday also features appearances from Cornel West, Alice Walker, Danny Glover, academics, artists, and activists.
