Dave Bautista has been living the blockbuster movie life as an alien and a Bond villain, but is he adding replicant to that list? The actor, who’s currently reprising Drax for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, revealed a cryptic message on social media with ties to Blade Runner.

“I can’t wait to share some really exciting news,” he tweeted. The message accompanied a photo of Bautista holding an origami unicorn, the same one that Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard once held in Ridley Scott’s 1982 film, which is currently being developed for a sequel.

Does Bautista’s message mean his Blade Runner 2 casting announcement is imminent?

The unicorn marks the end of the original film in which Rick finds the origami animal, and it represents a long-gestating debate. The details may vary depending on which version you watch, but the implication is that the Blade Runner, who’s spent a career hunting down replicants, is himself a replicant who thinks he’s human. In 2014, Scott told Digital Spy that Rick is “definitely a replicant,” though Ford remarked a year earlier that he couldn’t get a straight answer out of the filmmaker.

Ford will return for the sequel, which also stars Ryan Gosling and the recently announced Robin Wright. Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) is directing the sequel from a script by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. Plot details are still largely unknown, but events will pick up several decades after the original film in what Scott teased is a dystopian “factory farm — what would be a flat land with farming.”

Blade Runner 2 will begin filming this July ahead of its scheduled release on Jan. 12, 2018.
