Intrepid observers will note that for all the talk of 8-ounce cod and protein powder, there is no mention of candy. Indeed, Dwayne Johnson confirmed to Jimmy Fallon on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show that he hasn’t eaten a piece of candy since 1989. That’s right: the last time The Rock ate candy, George H. W. Bush was president. Ever looking to making history, Fallon presented Johnson with an array of treats: Pop Rocks, Twizzlers, a massive gummy worm. “This candy wasn’t even out in 1989,” the host noted of the Nerd Rope he held. The two went back and forth about which delicacy Johnson should sample, before Fallon finally poured some Pop Rocks into The Rock’s mouth.
