Everything, Everything movie: Amandla Stenberg to star

Amandla Stenberg has landed her first leading role in a major motion picture, as the Hunger Games actress is set to topline MGM’s upcoming YA adaptation Everything, Everything, EW has confirmed.

Jurassic World actor Nick Robinson is also in final negotiations for a major role in the project.

Everything, Everything is based on Nicola Yoon’s 2015 novel of the same name. The book details the budding romance between Maddy (Stenberg), a teenager living with severe combined immunodeficiency (which means she’s allergic to virtually everything), and Olly (Robinson), a boy who moves next door to the home Maddy has confined herself to for the last 17 years. Yoon’s novel debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times‘ YA best-seller list in 2015.

Reportedly entering production this September, Everything, Everything is being directed by Stella Meghie, whose debut directorial feature, Jean of the Joneses, premiered at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival in March. J. Mills Goodloe, the screenwriter behind the 2015 Blake Lively-starring romance Age of Adaline and the impending Idris Elba film The Mountains Between Us, wrote the adapted script for Everything, Everything.

Stenberg previously starred in The Hunger Games as Rue ahead of appearing in the 2016 Sundance prize-winning drama As You Are. She also had a small role in Beyoncé’s Lemonade visual album in April. Following his role in Jurassic World, Robinson starred in Rob Reiner’s Being Charlie, and acted opposite Chloë Grace Moretz in another YA adaptation, The 5th Wave.
