Drew Carey says it's 'not unusual' for Price Is Right players to drink, take drugs: One 'was tripping on mushrooms'

"He didn't think he was going to get picked, and he totally tripped."

If you're high on The Price Is Right, come on down!

In a new interview with TV Insider, host Drew Carey shared an irreverent revelation about contestants competing on the long-running game show while under the influence. "Oh, that happens here all the time," he said. "They'll have a gummy or I'll smell alcohol on their breath. Not unusual."

Carey went on to detail a particularly memorable encounter with a Price Is Right audience member. "There was a guy here that was tripping on mushrooms," he recalled. "He came with a bunch of friends. He was a sketch [comedy] guy."

However, the contestant didn't reveal his true occupation after competing to win a trip to the Atlanta Jazz Festival. "I asked him what he did for a living," Carey said. "And he goes, 'I'm a skateboarding rabbi.' He didn't think he was going to get picked, and he totally tripped."

The contestant, Joshua Androsky, uploaded the footage of his Price is Right appearance on YouTube shortly after it aired. "I'm an idiot and I took mushrooms, got drunk, then went on The Price Is Right and lied to Drew Carey's melting face," he wrote in the caption. "HE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER."

Elsewhere in the TV Insider interview, Carey discussed how long he wants to extend his hosting tenure.

"I just show up and punch the clock and hope I have a job every day," he said. "I don't think in terms of I'm the longest one. I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die. This is my 18th season. I've got to get the 35 and 41 so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak."

Carey reiterated that he has no plans to retire any time soon. "Before, I was like, 'Can I make it to five years? Can I make it to the end of my contract? Can I make it 10 years?' The longest I'd been on TV was The Drew Carey Show, nine years. Once I hit 10 years here, I was like, 'Wow, that’s the longest I’ve ever had a job in my life. It's such just a great part of my day, my year, my life. I can't imagine giving it up.'"
